WizzAir raises €50.644 for the victims in Haiti

Low cost airline WizzAir raised more than 50 thousand euros for the victims in Haiti. WizzAir announced a few weeks ago that it would give the opportunity to its passengers to contribute one euro per booking airline tickets and that it would match each donation with the same amount to help the earthquake victims in Haiti.

Wizz Air collected €25.322 euro and will match the donation by the same amount, making a total contribution of €50.644 to the Red Cross.

Qatar Airways to serve South America

Qatar Airways announced its plans to fly to Brazil and Argentina, spreading its service to the South American continent for the first time. South America’s two largest cities – Sao Paulo in Brazil and the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires – will join the airline’s rapidly growing international network from Doha over the next few months.

In addition, Qatar Airways will phase in capacity increases through additional frequencies and deployment of larger aircraft on selected international routes from the beginning of the Northern Summer 2010 schedules on March 28. These include services from Doha to Geneva, Stockholm, Colombo, Goa, Chennai, Amritsar, Kathmandu, Maldives, Seychelles, Luxor, Shanghai, Guangzhou Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Santiago services suspended after earthquake

March 2nd, 2010

Operations by all airlines at oneworld hub Santiago Airport (SCL) were suspended throughout the weekend following the earthquake that hit Chile on Saturday. LAN, which uses Santiago Airport as its main base, is working with the authorities there to restore services as soon as possible.

    Today’s common way of making things easier, on-line check-in, has got its even more dynamic successor – mobile check-in. Sound names like KLM or Air France belong among those who started working on mobile check-in project first, closely followed by German airlines Lufthansa.

    When can you use mobile check-in?

  • The service is mainly available for high-resolution phone screens with Internet access (it includes so called smart phones like iPhone, Blackberry or PDA).
  • You can use the service even though you did not buy your ticket on-line.
  • Mobile check-in is available namely on direct flights for those who travel alone.
  • You can check-in with your mobile from 30 to 1 hour prior to departure when traveling with Air France or KLM, for travel with Lufthansa you can do so from 23 hours before departure.

    AirTran offers “Book the Warmer Climate” airfare sales

    Low cost airline AirTran Airways today launched an airfare sale Book the Warmer Climate for travel to all the airline’s destinations with fares starting as low as $44. Prices included in this sale are available for one way travel. Passengers may purchase these special fares online at airtran.com, from their local travel agent, or via AirTran Airways’ reservations system.

    These special fares are available for purchase through March 4, 2010, and are good for travel from March 5, 2010 until June 9, 2010. Some blackout dates apply. The lowest fares are available for travel on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

    JetBlue to start flights from Orlando to Montego Bay

    Low cost airline JetBlue launched its new flights from Orlando to Montego Bay in Jamaica. Cheap flights are now available from only $69 one-way if booked at jetblue.com by February 15, 2010 for travel until March 23, 2010.

    WestJet offers more Caribbean sun

    January 28th, 2010

    Airline WestJet announced it will begin weekly seasonal non-stop service between Toronto and Samana, Dominican Republic, on June 5, 2010. The airline currently serves Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and La Romana with a total of seven non-stop flights per week from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. WestJet will also begin weekly seasonal service between Montreal and Punta Cana on June 5, 2010.

    WestJet also announced details of its new seasonal non-stop service between Toronto and Bermuda. Beginning May 3, 2010, WestJet will offer daily service between Pearson International Airport and Kindley Field, Bermuda.
