After Adria Airways revealed its reduction plans which will impact the traffic to and from Ljubljana Airport, the airport’s authorities spotted an opportunity to keep the passenger numbers on the current level by attracting the Irish low-cost airlines Ryanair.
As some of you may remember, Ryanair has already entered the Slovenian market once but withdrew after some months. The talks may not only help the airport but also result in cheap flights to Ljubljana for UK travellers.

The competition on the Asian low-cost market is growing healthy to say the least and Qantas Airways newly announced plans to launch two new Asian airlines are just a part of the ever intensifying rivalry.
The recent times have seen a major investment by All Nippon Airways in two low-budget carriers, one of them being a joint-venture with Air Asia and the latter being a new carrier Peach Aviation Ltd. Moreover, AirAsia X opened new routes to Japan as well. Another player present on the Asian market is the Shanghai-based Spring Airlines.

The last couple of days the entire world has been following the recent earthquake in Japan in shock and disbelief. With the death toll increasing, and the nuclear crisis looming over the country, the overall picture of the situation is still unclear.

A recent announcement by the head of the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration appear to confirm this prediction.
Li Jiaxing – who is a former CEO of Air China – broke the news that this powerful country will have build 45 new airports by the year 2015. Now, the China is widely-known for building projects of epic proportions but this announcement still makes impression.

The Luton-based low-cost carrier easyJet strengthens its position in Edinburgh by setting up three direct routes: Ediburgh – Athens, Ediburgh – Tenerife and Ediburgh – Grenoble. The keywords are city getaways, skiing and sunbathing. The flights will be in operation in September.

We start off with the Luton-based easyJet and its new route from London Gatwick to Zagreb. The new route will connect London and the Croatian capitol five times a week. Fares start at £25.99 one-way. There is more news from easyJet – another new route will carry all Sun-loving travellers from Belfast to Malta twice a week. Malta will thereby become the carrier’s 25th destination available from Belfast. The cheapest February fare at the time of writing is £55.99.

It seems as though mother nature is getting ever more relentless and decided not to cease to cause troubles. This time it is the airlines operating to the popular leisure destination Bali and their passengers that have suffered from the whims of an Indonesian volcano Mount Bromo.

The Dubai-based carrier Emirates announced the opening of a new route from Dubai to Copenhagen. The launch of the new service will expand Emirates’ already extensive route network with one more country.
Denmark becomes thereby the 67th country served by Emirates whereas the capitol of this Scandinavian country is among the 27 European destinations and 112 international destinations included in Emirates offer.
