Hi there, after a little break we come back with our weekly update on new routes and services. Today’s post features as usually some popular traditional carriers as well as low-cost airlines. Without further ado, we start off with Air France.

Air France launched its 13th US route, this time from Paris to Orlando. The new route connecting these Disneyland-cities is served three times a week.

The weekly update on new routes and services

Very untraditionally, the latest updates on new routes and services from low-cost airlines as well as traditional carriers come on Tuesday. This week seems not to offer so many new developments. Well, apparently the aviation industry needs a break as well.

We start off with the renowned Qatar Airways which announced the opening of new routes connecting its hub in Doha Airport with Uganda, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The route to Entebbe will be in operation as of November 2, 2011, whereas the flights to Baku and Tbilisi are to be launched on November 30, 2011.

Plenty of new transatlantic routes in 2011

It seems as though the market is not yet saturated as far as transatlantic routes are concerned given that some 28 new routes to North-American destinations are either already launched or expected to be in operation in 2011.

Among the airlines to set up routes to US and Canada are e.g. Delta, Air France, Air Berlin, SAS or British Airways. Let us take a look at a few examples of the announced services.

We begin with Iberia which following the expanded codeshare agreement with British Airways is now offering flights to new African and Middle-eastern destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Doha, Bahrain, Muscat , Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Hi guys, it is time for our weekly preview of the latest development in the world of aviation – new routes and services as well as other news from the low-cost airlines and traditional carriers.

We begin with some breaking figures from Brussels Airport. The summer schedule, which has been in effect for a couple of days, is truly impressive in that it includes as much as 80 airlines operating services to 214 destinations. Among the newcomers is the renowned and constantly expanding Qatar Airways, whereas among the new destinations until recently now available from Brussels are Doha and Liverpool.

The Irish-low cost carrier Ryanair expands in the Greek market. As of respectively June 1, 2011 and May 30, 2011, the carrier will operate flights from Frankfurt to Crete and Milan Bergamo to Crete. The flights will be operated twice a week and are already on sale.

The national carrier of the UK, British Airways announced it would launch new routes to leisure spots from London City. It concerns both increasing frequency to e.g. Nice, Ibiza or Palma and new routes London City – Faro (as of June 7, 2011) and London City – Malaga (June 8, 2011).

Qatar Airways: the 100th destination & a big promotion

After 14 years of its existence on the market, the renowned Doha-based carrier Qatar Airways has reached the magical number of 100 destinations. The 100th destination on the route network of this Gulf carrier is the Syrian city, Aleppo which is known for its antiquity.

The flights from Doha to Aleppo will be in operation as of April 6, 2010 and are bookable from now on.

Today is Monday and as you know, no Monday can go without a portion of updates. Here you are: new routes and services as well as other news from low-cost airlines as well as traditional carriers.

The most significant piece of aviation news, at least in terms of numbers, is the fact that US carriers are to add some 200 new routes in the first half of 2011 alone. Among the airlines distinguished by the number of new services are: Delta Airlines (24), American/American Eagle (22), or Southwest (20).
