New routes and services & update

Hi flyers. How about we end this week with a solid dose of aviation news? Let us go through new developments from both low-cost airlines and traditional carriers and stay up to date.

Air France has recently extended its route-network with as many as 13 new services. Apart from the new Nantes – Brussels and Nantes – Düsseldorf routes, this French carrier extended the offer from Marseilles. Passengers from Marseilles Airport can now fly to e.g. Athens, Basel, Copenhagen or Milan Malpensa.

New routes and services – update

We start off with two new Nordic services from Air Berlin. Firstly, this low-cost carrier provides now a cheaper alternative on the Hamburg – Reykjavik route and engaging in competition with Lufthansa. Secondly, good new for those who dream of visiting the picturesque isle of Bornholm. Flights Berlin Bornholm are now in operation. Both routes are seasonal and stop to operate in August.

We begin in Eastern Europe where the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has opened its new base in Vilnius. Altogether, the carrier will operate 8 routes from there: VilniusBarcelona, Vilnius London Luton as well as Doncaster, Cork, Milan Bergamo, Rome, Eindhoven and Stockholm.

We begin with some breaking figures from Brussels Airport. The summer schedule, which has been in effect for a couple of days, is truly impressive in that it includes as much as 80 airlines operating services to 214 destinations. Among the newcomers is the renowned and constantly expanding Qatar Airways, whereas among the new destinations until recently now available from Brussels are Doha and Liverpool.

So you bought your perfect low-budget airfare. Everything is the way it should – the timing, the destination and the price. You started packing your stuff but was only when you took a closer look at the ticket that it transpired that you were not going to London Heathrow, as you had assumed you would, but to London Stansted.

For those of you who have never been to London and wonder what it implies – well a difference of some 37.5 miles or 60.3 km. And, we would have forgotten, quite a few quid.

The weekly update on new routes and services

odbavovací hala 3We keep tabs on what is happening in the aviation world and as usually, we start the week with some fresh updates about new routes and services from both low-cost airlines and traditional airlines.

We begin with the Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizzair which, it seems, will finally set up its long-announced operating base in Belgrade in April. Wizzair has also announced it would launch routes Belgrade – Rome, Belgrade – Malmo, Belgrade Stockholm-Skavsta, Belgrade – Eindhoven and Belgrade – Munich-Memmingen.
