It took an emergency landing and a police intervention to crack down on a disorderly English passenger who reportedly got himself into a row with his family members no board. Allegedly he went so far as to threaten to kill his wife.
As a result of the incident, the Boeing 747-400 belonging to Virgin Atlantic and heading from Orlando to Manchester with 451 passengers and 17 crew on board had to land in Gander, Canada.
The delights of one week’s custody were far from the only one consequence the inebriated trouble-maker had to suffer. In addition, he was handed a bill totalling more than £14,500.
As for the aircraft, it finally arrived in its port of destination three hours after the scheduled arrival.
