The Portuguese leading airline and a member of Star Alliance TAP Portugal is going to widen its network of destinations with a new flight service. In addition to the existing connection form Lisbon to São Paulo – Guarulhos International Airport, which is the city’s primary airport, TAP decided to fly from Lisbon to an airport located nearly 100 km off the capitol, The airport is a gateway both to the capitol – even though it lies a bit far a field from it – and to the prosperous Campinas region.

TAP Portugal is going to launch new flights from Lisbon to Algiers from June 1, 2010. TAP will operate three flights a week to Algiers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with 45-seater Embraer aircraft.
The Lisbon – Algiers flights depart at 3:45 pm and arrive at the Algerian capital at 6:05 pm. Return flights depart Algiers at 6:50 pm and arrive in Lisbon at 9:00 pm. TAP also recently announced that it would open a new route to Marrakesh, also starting in June, with three weekly flights operating on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

TAP Portugal announced that it would open a new route to Marrakech in June. New service will be operated 3 times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The company continues to pursue its expansion strategy in Africa, which is the only part of its network to have shown steady growth since 2001.
With the opening of this new route in June, TAP will now cover a network of ten cities in eight African countries, operating a total of 55 flights per week between Portugal and Africa. In Morocco, Marrakech now joins flights from Lisbon to Casablanca, which is currently served by 13 flights a week. TAP flies seven times a week to both Sal and Praia in Cape Verde, and operates the same frequency to Dakar in Senegal.

Europcar, Adam & Eve Hotels, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Virgin Atlantic Airways were amongst companies who triumphed during the World Travel Awards European regional ceremony, staged in the luxurious Marriott Praia D’El Rey in Portugal on October 17, 2009.
The awards, described by the Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars’ of the global travel and tourism industry, revealed who are the ‘best of the best’ in the region. In the Europe categories, Lufthansa won the title Europe’s Leading Airline and Marriott Hotels Resorts & Suites won Europe’s Leading Hotel Brand. Meanwhile Europe’s Leading Destination went to Lisbon, Portugal, Carlson Wagonlit Travel took home the award for Europe’s Leading Travel Management Company while Viajes Iberia won the title of Europe’s Leading Travel Agency. Virgin Atlantic Airways won Europe’s Leading Marketing Campaign for their ’25 Years Still Red Hot’ campaign. A number of national category awards were also presented throughout the evening.

Airline TAP Portugal has launched a new low fares campaign, offering tickets to 34 major European cities from just €59. Fares to Africa and the Americas will also be included for the first time, with New York and Cape Verde from €249 and flights to eight cities in Brazil from €359 including taxes.
This offer will start with a minimum of 300,000 seats, which will increase during the course of the campaign. It is valid for reservations made by 30 September for journeys departing from Lisbon and Oporto between November 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010.
