Southwest Airlines celebrates 39 years of service with $39 fares

Thirty-nine years ago, Southwest Airlines was founded. Today, Southwest decided to give its customers special birthday gift – lower fares. Customers can purchase one-way tickets for $39, $79, or $119 to selected destinations based on length of travel. For travel up to 450 miles, fares are $39 one-way. For travel between 451 and 1000 miles, fares are $79 one-way. For travel more than 1001 miles, fares are $119 one-way. These fares are available only until 11:59 p.m. PDT June 24, 2010. Travel period starts from September 8, 2010 and ends November 17, 2010.

Examples of these low fares include:

$39 one-way between Baltimore Washington and LaGuardia
$79 one-way between Chicago and Houston
$119 one-way between Los Angeles and Philadelphia

Southwest Airlines begins flights to Panama City Beach

Southwest announces two new Phoenix routes

Southwest Airlines announced that it would start two new nonstop routes from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).

Phoenix – Minneapolis
Beginning August 15, 2010, Southwest will begin two daily nonstops between PHX – MSP. The carrier is offering these new flights with introductory fares as low as $99 one-way when purchased through April 29, 2010. This is the fourth nonstop destination served out of MSP since its opening in March 2009. It currently offers nonstop service to Chicago (Midway), Denver, and Lambert-St. Louis.

Southwest Airlines: 25 years of ‘LUV’ in St. Louis and Chicago

Southwest Airlines celebrated the carrier’s 25th anniversary of service at St. Louis Airport and Chicago Midway Airport. To commemorate the occasion, Southwest celebrated with its employees and customers at both airports.

Southwest Airlines launched service to St. Louis on March 17, 1985, with 17 daily nonstop flights to four cities. Today, Southwest is the second largest carrier in terms of daily departures at St. Louis with 70 flights to 25 nonstop destinations, as of March 2010.

Southwest Airlines launches 72-hour fare sales

For the next 72 hours, Southwest Airlines launches airfare deal with discounted airfares starting as low as $30 one-way to or from Philadelphia. Fares are available in select markets for travel Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays when purchased by March 18, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. These fares are only available on southwest.com for travel from April 6, 2010 to May 26, 2010.

Examples of fares include:

  • $30 one-way between Philadelphia and Raleigh/Durham
  • $60 one-way between Philadelphia and Chicago
  • $90 one-way between Philadelphia and Denver

    Southwest launched 72-hour airfare sales

    Low cost airline Southwest Airlines launched yesterday 72-hour airfare sales. The lowest fares are available from only $39 one-way on select routes under 500 miles. Cheap flights can be booked until February 11, 2010 for travel on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from March 15 until May 25, 2010.

    Passengers can book flights as low as $39 one-way e.g. from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh,  from Los Angeles to San Francisco or from Phoenix to Las Vegas. Southwest Airlines is the largest US low cost airline headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Southwest Airlines operates both short-haul and long-haul flights. More details at southwest.com.

    Southwest Airlines announced three-day fare sale

    Southwest Airlines is offering customers airfare sales starting as low as $49 one-way. Fares are available in select markets for travel Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays when purchased by January 21, 2010, at 11:59 p.m. PST. These fares are only available on southwest.com or swabiz.com for travel between April 7, 2010, and May 25, 2010.  Examples of fares include:

    * from $49 one-way between Chicago Midway and Kansas City
    * from $67 one-way between Reno/Tahoe and Los Angeles
    * from $99 one-way between Providence and Ft. Lauderdale

    Southwest celebrates 4 years in Denver with free flights

    Southwest Airlines is celebrating four years of LUV in Denver with an airfare deal for Colorado Customers. Beginning today, Southwest is offering its Colorado Customers a free flight when they book a Business Select fare to/from Denver. The offer is valid for both new and existing Rapid Rewards Members for travel booked by January 31, 2010, and travel completed by February 28, 2010. Colorado Residents who aren’t yet Rapid Rewards Members can join and be automatically registered for the promotion. To register for the promotion, visit: www.southwest.com/denverfree.

    Southwest Airlines began service to Denver on January 3, 2006, with 13 daily nonstop departures to three destinations. The airline currently operates 113 daily nonstop flights from the Mile High City, making Denver the fastest growing city in the Company’s history. In May 2010, Southwest will operate 129 daily flights, and by August 2010, Southwest will operate 144 daily nonstop flights from Denver, making Denver the airline’s fifth largest market.

    Southwest Airlines launched fare sale

    Southwest Airlines is offering even more ways to save on winter airfares! For Customers who missed the recent 72-hour sale, Southwest is offering airfare deals with fares starting as low as $59 one-way to select destinations. Fares must be purchased by November 23, 2009.

    These fares require 14-day advance purchase for travel every day except Fridays and Sundays between December 2, 2009, and December 17, 2009, or between January 5, 2010, and March 9, 2010.
