Fares are available in select markets for travel Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays when purchased by March 18, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. These fares are only available on southwest.com for travel from April 6, 2010 to May 26, 2010.
Low cost airline Southwest Airlines launched yesterday 72-hour airfare sales. The lowest fares are available from only $39 one-way on select routes under 500 miles. Cheap flights can be booked until February 11, 2010 for travel on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from March 15 until May 25, 2010.
Passengers can book flights as low as $39 one-way e.g. from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, from Los Angeles to San Francisco or from Phoenix to Las Vegas. Southwest Airlines announces its intent to begin jet service from Northwest Florida’s new international airport near Panama City, Florida in May 2010. Southwest has not released specific service details, saying only that it will add at least two daily nonstop flights from Northwest Florida to four destinations across its 68 airport network for a total of eight daily nonstop flights when it begins service next year. Northwest Florida will be the first international airport to open in the nation in more than a decade. The new international airport is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in May 2010. Specific details on Southwest’s fares and schedule will be available in December 2009.
Southwest Airlines announced that the carrier is opening its schedule for travel beginning March 14, 2010, through May 7, 2010. Through the continuation of the airline’s flight optimization exercise, Southwest is adding 62 roundtrip flights and eliminating 10 roundtrip flights for a net gain of 52 roundtrip flights, or 104 one-way flights systemwide.
The March schedule reflects seasonal travel patterns where demand increases during the Spring.
Southwest Airlines announced today that the company flew 5.8 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in September 2009, an 8.8 percent increase from the 5.3 billion RPMs flown in September 2008. Available seat miles (ASMs) decreased 7.8 percent to 7.7 billion from the September 2008 level of 8.4 billion. The load factor for the month was 74.7 percent, compared to 63.4 percent for the same period last year. For September 2009, passenger revenue per ASM is estimated to have increased in the three percent range as compared to September 2008.
