For the next 72 hours, Southwest Airlines launches airfare deal with discounted airfares starting as low as $30 one-way to or from Philadelphia. Fares are available in select markets for travel Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays when purchased by March 18, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. These fares are only available on southwest.com for travel from April 6, 2010 to May 26, 2010.

Southwest Airlines began service to Denver on January 3, 2006, with 13 daily nonstop departures to three destinations. The airline currently operates 113 daily nonstop flights from the Mile High City, making Denver the fastest growing city in the Company’s history. In May 2010, Southwest will operate 129 daily flights, and by August 2010, Southwest will operate 144 daily nonstop flights from Denver, making Denver the airline’s fifth largest market.

Southwest Airlines is offering even more ways to save on winter airfares! For Customers who missed the recent 72-hour sale, Southwest is offering airfare deals with fares starting as low as $59 one-way to select destinations. Fares must be purchased by November 23, 2009.
These fares require 14-day advance purchase for travel every day except Fridays and Sundays between December 2, 2009, and December 17, 2009, or between January 5, 2010, and March 9, 2010.

Southwest Airlines announces its intent to begin jet service from Northwest Florida’s new international airport near Panama City, Florida in May 2010. The planned service is made possible through a strategic alliance agreement developed between Southwest and The St. Joe Company, one of Florida’s largest landowners and real estate developers. The new airport will introduce daily jet service to the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast, providing Southwest Customers easy access to its stunning white-sand beaches and vibrant communities. Southwest has not released specific service details, saying only that it will add at least two daily nonstop flights from Northwest Florida to four destinations across its 68 airport network for a total of eight daily nonstop flights when it begins service next year. Northwest Florida will be the first international airport to open in the nation in more than a decade. The new international airport is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in May 2010. Specific details on Southwest’s fares and schedule will be available in December 2009.
Southwest Airlines announced that the carrier is opening its schedule for travel beginning March 14, 2010, through May 7, 2010. Through the continuation of the airline’s flight optimization exercise, Southwest is adding 62 roundtrip flights and eliminating 10 roundtrip flights for a net gain of 52 roundtrip flights, or 104 one-way flights systemwide.
The March schedule reflects seasonal travel patterns where demand increases during the Spring.
Southwest Airlines announced today that the company flew 5.8 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in September 2009, an 8.8 percent increase from the 5.3 billion RPMs flown in September 2008. Available seat miles (ASMs) decreased 7.8 percent to 7.7 billion from the September 2008 level of 8.4 billion. The load factor for the month was 74.7 percent, compared to 63.4 percent for the same period last year. For September 2009, passenger revenue per ASM is estimated to have increased in the three percent range as compared to September 2008.
