The famous Irish low-cost airline Ryanair known for e.g. its additional charges policy as well as its pursuit of media attention, will introduce yet another levy from the next week.
The new levy is Ryanair’s response to the new EU emission trading scheme. The cost of the new regulation is estimated to be around 18-20 for Ryanair hence a new fee of 25 euro cents on every seat.

A month without a PR-stunt from Ryanair is a wasted month. As is always the case with this budget carrier, it is about getting attention and money. And as always, the way of getting both is somewhat embarrassing. This time round it is about a new and smelly source of income – on-board toilets.
This Irish low-cost airline has already made an attempt to earn money on on-board toilets. The proposal, which later on was dropped, was to introduce charges for using toilets. Now Ryanair’s O’Leary comes up with a new twist on his toilet business.

After Adria Airways revealed its reduction plans which will impact the traffic to and from Ljubljana Airport, the airport’s authorities spotted an opportunity to keep the passenger numbers on the current level by attracting the Irish low-cost airlines Ryanair.
As some of you may remember, Ryanair has already entered the Slovenian market once but withdrew after some months. The talks may not only help the airport but also result in cheap flights to Ljubljana for UK travellers.

This dishonest marketing trend which is a trademark of low-cost airlines has been under harsh criticism for a long time. But until now such low-budget carriers as Ryanair have had no incentive to take the consumer criticism seriously. This may be just about to change.

The summer season has official started and along with it comes the urge to throw it all away, pack some stuff and set off on at least a weekend trip. The evergreen dilemma here is how to fly cheap? Does choosing a one of many low-cost-airlines solve the problem?
- Low-budget carriers are cheaper on average which does not automatically mean they are cheap by definition. So our first advice is not to reject traditional carriers. Take your time and look into the current offer of British Airways before you enter the site of Ryanair. Travelling with Ryanair let us say on the route London – Gothenburg does not have to be cheaper than the same route with British Airlines, and certainly not when you wish to take with you of item of hold baggage.
