
Hi guys, it is time for our weekly preview of the latest development in the world of aviation – new routes and services as well as other news from the low-cost airlines and traditional carriers.
We begin with some breaking figures from Brussels Airport. The summer schedule, which has been in effect for a couple of days, is truly impressive in that it includes as much as 80 airlines operating services to 214 destinations. Among the newcomers is the renowned and constantly expanding Qatar Airways, whereas among the new destinations until recently now available from Brussels are Doha and Liverpool.

After 14 years of its existence on the market, the renowned Doha-based carrier Qatar Airways has reached the magical number of 100 destinations. The 100th destination on the route network of this Gulf carrier is the Syrian city, Aleppo which is known for its antiquity.
The flights from Doha to Aleppo will be in operation as of April 6, 2010 and are bookable from now on.

The most significant piece of aviation news, at least in terms of numbers, is the fact that US carriers are to add some 200 new routes in the first half of 2011 alone. Among the airlines distinguished by the number of new services are: Delta Airlines (24), American/American Eagle (22), or Southwest (20).

We begin with the Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizzair which, it seems, will finally set up its long-announced operating base in Belgrade in April. Wizzair has also announced it would launch routes Belgrade – Rome, Belgrade – Malmo, Belgrade Stockholm-Skavsta, Belgrade – Eindhoven and Belgrade – Munich-Memmingen.

The Luton-based low-cost carrier easyJet strengthens its position in Edinburgh by setting up three direct routes: Ediburgh – Athens, Ediburgh – Tenerife and Ediburgh – Grenoble. The keywords are city getaways, skiing and sunbathing. The flights will be in operation in September.

We begin this week with an update on what is new the schedules of various carriers worldwide – both low-cost airlines
and traditional carriers – so that you are well-informed.
We start off with the Luton-based easyJet and its new route from London Gatwick to Zagreb. The new route will connect London and the Croatian capitol five times a week. Fares start at £25.99 one-way. There is more news from easyJet – another new route will carry all Sun-loving travellers from Belfast to Malta twice a week. Malta will thereby become the carrier’s 25th destination available from Belfast. The cheapest February fare at the time of writing is £55.99.

Hi there. We start off this week with quite a number of new routes in an attempt to keep YOU updated. We will look into the new services very briefly as the sheer quantity does not allow us to go into the details.
One year ago Allegiant moved 10 of its routes from Orlando Sanford International Airport to Orlando International Airport but now announced the homecoming of all ten routes in a bid to consolidate its all Orlando flights. The routes in question are e.g. Orlando Sanford – Allentown, Orlando Sanford – Des Moines or Orlando Sanford – Lexington. By now the return of all the routes should be accomplished.
While Allegiant is reshuffling the existing routes, Skyways is growing big time. Following the merger with Avia Express and a shift in ownership, this Swedish-based low-cost airline is adding six new international destinations and one domestic destination to its route network. The carriers new base becomes Airport Jönköping. The change will be marked by the opening of new services from Jönköping to Brussels and from Jönköping to Berlin Tegel. Both services will be in operation as of March 28, 2011.

The Doha-based Qatar Airways signed codeshare agreement with a big Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes.
Let us give you just a few examples of the airports included in the new agreement: Airport Brasilia, Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and more.

The Doha-based Qatar Airways, one of the most renowned and awarded carriers, is going to reach the magical number of 100 destinations on its route network. It is Aleppo – an ancient city in Syria, on the List of World Heritage Sites – that will have the honourable status as the 100th destination served by Qatar.
The Doha – Aleppo service will be in operation as of April 6, 2011 and is much anticipated as it is believe to boost both the tourist industry and the business relations with Syria.
Naturally, this dynamically growing carrier does not stop here and we can expect more destinations to be announced. One of them will be Nice – the fifth most populous city in France. The route will start November 24, 2010.

The Doha-based Qatar Airways strengthens its position on the Vietnamese market by both increasing the frequency of the existing services and opening new connections.
The new scheduled service connects Doha and Hanoi whereas the number of flights to Airport Tansonnhat International has been increased. It can be mentioned that Qatar is the solely
5-star airline to fly on these routes.
The number of flights Qatar Airways operates to Vietnam is now three times bigger than before which reflects the ever increasing interest in this Asian country as both a tourist destination and a business partner as well as the strengthening of the relationship between the two countries.
The ambitions on the part of Qatar Airway reach further than that – the number of destinations served by this carrier is due to increase to 120 by 2013.
