Not long ago we mentioned – rather our of idle curiosity as it had nothing to do with low-cost – that soon commercial space flights may become reality. Now that is turns out that it is not only Virgin Galactic that is at the cutting edge of aviation technology, we have no choice but to write a follow-up post.
It turns namely out that the Dutch KLM embarks on suborbital space tourism as well. This traditional carrier – one of the oldest airlines in the world – enters into cooperation with Space Experience Curaçao. The goal of this cooperation is providing commercial suborbital flights Space Port Curaçao.
The vehicle which will enable this enterprise is Lynx suborbital spacecraft and is yet to be manufactured.
Not long ago, such plans would have sounded like science-fiction – or simply like delusions of grandeur – but as the SXC Founder claims, it is simply in keeping with the Dutch entrepreneurial spirits and as such it should not come as a surprise.
While space adventures in all probability will remain out of reach for a long time, we suggest you visit KLM’s and check out its more is it were terrestrial but still amazing offer.

British Airways along with 12 other carriers (e.g. Air France-KLM) will have to pay a fine totalling €800m following a price fixing scheme. The fine is imposed by the EU antitrust authorities and results from an investigation which involved both the EU institutions, the UK’s Office of Fair Trading and the U.S. Department of Justice.
Even though it the biggest fine this British carrier has ever been imposed, the total amount could have been considerably higher had it not been for the cooperation on the part of British Airways.
The price fixing scheme, which took place between 2004 and 2006, concerned surcharge increases.
The CEO of British Airways reassured that the passengers would not be overcharged. Well, time will show.
