I’ve been recently sifting through web pages of BBC and found some really intriguing stuff. The pages contained a link to the Airline Safety Score Database. I curiously clicked on it and an excel sheet opened up including safety information of more than 1850 airlines. For those who might be interested – scroll down a bit and you’ll get the link on BBC. As soon as you open up the document you will find some interesting facts.
You can learn which airlines have been banned from Europe or which ones reach conspicuously low score. The score starts at 0 and goes up to 10. As you may expect the old-fashioned rule applies – the greater, the better. Once you go through the list of the airlines you’ll get to know that one of the coolest airlines to fly is e.g. Lufthansa (9.07). On the other hand there are some I would really think about before taking a flight with! Better be safe than sorry. African airlines Aero Africa and Bravo Air Congo score at 3.57 and 2.62 only! The Kazakh airline Zhetysu scores at 3.11 or Fly Dragon Airlines (Nepal) at 1,23! Check out a basic overview of a few airlines (which may be well known to you) and their score:
