Very untraditionally, the latest updates on new routes and services from low-cost airlines as well as traditional carriers come on Tuesday. This week seems not to offer so many new developments. Well, apparently the aviation industry needs a break as well.
We start off with the renowned Qatar Airways which announced the opening of new routes connecting its hub in Doha Airport with Uganda, Azerbaijan and Georgia. The route to Entebbe will be in operation as of November 2, 2011, whereas the flights to Baku and Tbilisi are to be launched on November 30, 2011.

We begin this week with an update on what is new the schedules of various carriers worldwide – both low-cost airlines
and traditional carriers – so that you are well-informed.
We start off with the Luton-based easyJet and its new route from London Gatwick to Zagreb. The new route will connect London and the Croatian capitol five times a week. Fares start at £25.99 one-way. There is more news from easyJet – another new route will carry all Sun-loving travellers from Belfast to Malta twice a week. Malta will thereby become the carrier’s 25th destination available from Belfast. The cheapest February fare at the time of writing is £55.99.

Some time ago we witnessed how the severe weather conditions struck and paralized European airports making the lives of travellers a living hell, now, it seems, it is turn for American airports. American airlines warn travellers that they should expect that the fickle winter weather will affect their plans.

Low cost airline JetBlue Airways announced that it planned to serve the popular Caribbean destination – Providenciales in the Turks & Caicos Islands. The airline will launch daily service from New York (JFK) to Providenciales (PLS) from February 17. It will also launch seasonal (November – April) Saturday service beginning February 19, 2011 from Boston to Providenciales. JetBlue’s flights to the Turks & Caicos Islands are expected to go on sale in October.
Providenciales would be JetBlue’s 64th destination and its 17th destination in the Caribbean. With the addition of the Turks & Caicos Islands, the carrier would serve 40 nonstop destinations from Boston. JetBlue intends to operate its Providenciales service with Airbus A320.

Low cost airline JetBlue was now welcomed as official member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The airline recently signed an interline agreement with South African Airways, which joins airlines that have interline partnerships with JetBlue such as Lufthansa, American Airlines, Cape Air and Aer Lingus.

JetBlue Airways resumes its popular summer service from New York to Nantucket. Flights will be operated until September 30, 2010.
