Low cost airlines’ baggage policy – Germanwings

December 1st, 2010

Are you about to travel with Germanwings any soon? Wondering about their policy governing the matter of baggage?
Let us begin with the valuables we usually keep close to us:

Carry-on baggage
That is very easy – what you can take on board free of charge is one piece of luggage weighting up to 8 kg and not exceeding 55 x 40 x 20 cm. All larger/hevier luggage has to be handed over at the counter.
The list of items one is not allowed to take on board contains some rather obvious artifacts but we quote it just in case:

Germanwings: Surprise flights and surprisingly low fares

October 4th, 2010

Every tv spectator is acquainted with the blind date concept but how about translating it into travelling by air? What you get as a result is nothing else but blind booking and that is exactly how the latest deal from Germanwing is called.

The whole thing works in a simple way. One has to choose the point of departure and determine what kind of holiday one is up for. The choice is between party, shopping, metropolis (Western/Eastern Europe), nature and culture. As you see, the available categories cover just about everything one can conceive of doing when setting off on a trip. As for the prices, they start at €19.99. Hardly a high price for e.g. Cologne – Barcelona or Cologne – Rome

20 heads of lettuce versus summer trip

July 15th, 2010

Let us imagine an amount of 20 Euros. What can we buy with it? A quick Google search reveals that an exemplary acquisition would be around 10 loafs of white bread and 10 heads of lettuce. Now, we can safely assume that a plane ticket would be by far more interesting purchase and in case you have not guessed it yet – for 20 Euros you can buy one.

Details are as follows – Germanwings launched a promotion where the airfare cost is €19.99 per person inclusive of taxes and charges but exclusive of surcharge for checking in luggage. As for the destinations, you can choose between e.g. Munich, Hanover, Dresden and many more.

While it may pose a problem to choose between the destinations, the choice between the grocery a summer trip seems an easy one.
