Emirates extends partnership with Western Force

The standing of the Emirates Western Force as a world-class sporting organisation has been reinforced with Emirates, the Dubai-based global airline, extending its naming rights partnership for a further three seasons.

Emirates airline has partnered the West Australian Super Rugby franchise as naming sponsor since the club’s 2005 inception and the new deal will see Emirates maintain pride of place on the front of the ocean blue jersey until at least the end of the 2013 season.

Emirates to launch double-daily services to Jakarta

Airline Emirates will advance its existing operation from Dubai to Jakarta with the introduction of a double-daily service, effective March 1, 2010. The three additional flights will be operated on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, using the Boeing 777 family of technologically-advanced aircraft in two-class configurations. The expansion will introduce over 2600 seats per week.

The growth in services follows the recent launch of an additional flight in December 2009, underscoring the increased economic and cultural ties between the UAE and Indonesia.

Emirates’ A380 comes full circle and heads to France

January 4th, 2010

The French capital is the latest destination to be served by the Emirates‘ much admired super-jumbo – after Toronto, London Heathrow, Seoul, Bangkok, Sydney, Auckland, and Jeddah from February 1.

France became part of the airline’s European network in 1992. Nineteen weekly passengers flights into the country are made up of a double daily service from Dubai to Paris and daily flights into Nice.

Emirates to launch Prague

December 23rd, 2009

The non-stop service to the Czech Republic’s capital city is the 3rd new route to be announced by Emirates for 2010. Services to Tokyo begin 28th March and Amsterdam comes on stream from May 1. More announcements are on the way, supported by continuing aircraft deliveries.

Beginning July 1, EK 139 will leave Dubai at 10:30hrs and arrive in Prague at 14:50hrs with a flight time of around six hours. The return flight, EK 140, departs Prague at 16:20hrs and gets into Dubai at 00:15hrs the following day. A 278-seat Airbus A330, offering 27 seats in Business Class and 251 in Economy will serve the route.

Emirates increases flights to Amman and Doha

November 26th, 2009

For the fourth time this year the Middle East will get a boost from Emirates with an additional four flights per week added to the already robust service schedule. Effective December 1, Emirates will introduce an additional three services per week to Amman and one additional flight to Doha, all additional flights will be serviced by the Airbus A330. The existing service of 197 flights per week to 14 Middle Eastern gateways will now be strengthened to 201.

The additional flights bring the airline’s total weekly operation to: 17 flights to Amman and 35 flights to Doha.

Emirates ranks highest in International Airline Web Study

This year the User Experience Alliance (UXalliance), a global network of leading user research firms, celebrated World Usability Day by unveiling the preliminary findings of the first “Global-Local Monitor” conducted on airline Web sites.

The Global-Local Monitor assesses how well a site is localized or adapted to local language and culture. Localization is based on factors such as the proper use of local languages, character sets, weights and measures, currencies, dates and times, and culturally sensitive imagery.

Emirates unveils major expansion across Asia Pacific

November 5th, 2009

In a major expansion spanning two months, Emirates will advance its footprint in Asia Pacific with planned capacity enhancements to Bangkok, Sydney, Manila and Jakarta.

Starting December 2009, Emirates will introduce a fourth daily service from Dubai to Bangkok, a third daily service to Sydney, two additional flights to Manila and one additional service to Jakarta.17 flights per week will be added between December 2009 and January 2010, representing 13 % growth in seat capacity. Post increase, the airline’s operation in Asia Pacific will escalate to 187 flights per week.

Emirates reaffirms ‘Best Middle East Airline’ status

Emirates airline has picked up three prestigious accolades at the London and Hong Kong editions of the distinguished Business Traveller Awards, 2009.

Readers of the monthly magazine, Business Traveller UK edition, voted in favour of Emirates, giving it the ‘Best First Class’ and the ‘Best Middle Eastern Airline’ trophies at a glittering awards function in London. A week later in Hong Kong, Emirates boosted its impressive title collection by winning the ‘Best Middle East/African Airline’ award from Business Traveller Asia-Pacific.

Congress Solutions International to organise major transport event

Congress Solutions International (CSI), part of Dubai-based Emirates airline, has been appointed by Road & Transport Authority (RTA) as the local Professional Congress Organiser (PCO) for the 59th UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition.

A bi-annual event set to take place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 10-14, 2011, the UITP World Congress is the leading forum for the international public transport sector. It brings together high-level professionals from around the world in order to share knowledge and engage in the discussions on future transport provision.

Emirates and V Australia to start code share agreement

September 17th, 2009

Dubai-based airline, Emirates, and Virgin Blue Group’s new international airline, V Australia, announced a code share partnership on the trans-Tasman route, effective October 25, 2009. The code share agreement – Emirates’ first with an Australian carrier – signals yet another initiative in the airline’s commitment to Australia. It also confirms Emirates as V Australia’s first code share partner.

The new agreement will provide V Australia guests seamless connections when travelling between New Zealand and the USA. Passengers can travel on the Trans-Tasman sector using Emirates’ award-winning service and connect conveniently to/from V Australia’s international service between Sydney and Los Angeles.
