Blue1 will launch flights to Croatia for summer 2010

The launch of Croatia as a new Blue1 destination last summer turned out to be such a success, that Blue1 will multiply next summer’s flights to Croatia starting early spring 2010. Flights from Helsinki to Dubrovnik begin already on April 3, 2010 on Saturdays, and as from May 4, 2010 also on Tuesdays. The route to Dubrovnik will be operated twice a week until end of October.

Flights from Helsinki to Split will be resumed on April 30, 2010 with departures twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays. Dubrovnik is a wonderful starting point for exploring southern Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Split is the gateway to Croatia’s Makarska Riviera and many magnificent islands, such as Hvar and Brac. More details and timetable at blue1.com.

SAS Group signs long-term content agreement with Amadeus

The SAS Group, Northern Europe’s largest airline group has signed a five year, full content agreement with Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, guaranteeing its travel agents access to the full range of fares and inventory of SAS Scandinavian Airlines, Widerøe, Blue1 and Estonian Air.

The agreement ensures that the airlines’ schedules, fares, last seat availability and associated inventory available through Amadeus will be the same as through the airlines’ other sales channels worldwide. This agreement provides the customer with the confidence that they have access to the widest range of fares through Amadeus and demonstrates SAS Group’s commitment to the travel agencies channel.

SAS to add 28 destinations in Greece

The Chief Executive Board of Star Alliance, of which SAS Scandinavian Airlines is a founding member, has accepted the membership application of Aegean Airlines, the largest airline in Greece. This means SAS soon can offer its customers 28 new destinations in Greece. SAS currently operates 10 flights a week from both Copenhagen and Stockholm, which will connect smoothly to Aegean’s wide network. Aegean’s destinations include the islands of Corfu, Kefalonia, Kos, Mykonos, Rhodes and Santorini, amongst others.

Aegean Airlines has operated for 10 years and operates a fleet of 31 aircraft covering a total of 47 domestic and international routes on 200 daily flights. Specifically 23 routes in Greece are covered, as well as a further 24 international routes. In 2008, Aegean became the largest Greek airline in terms of passenger numbers.

EU praises Scandinavian Airlines’ websites

SAS Scandinavian Airlines‘ websites have been highly praised by the European Commission. Following an extensive investigation, the Commission concluded that customers booking flights on SAS’s websites feel assured that their rights as consumers are well safeguarded.

After introducing a higher level of consumer protection in Europe under the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive from 2005 and the review of the “Rules for the operation of air services in the Community” (known as the “third package”), the European Commission believed that it was time to perform a “health check” of airlines’ and travel agents’ ticket selling websites.
