Air Berlin: baggage policy

In this week’s instalment of our series bringing you the updated baggage policy of traditional carriers as well as low-cost airlines, we will have a look at the baggage allowance of Air Berlin, Germany’s second-largest airline which recently announced a partnership with Etihad Airways.

Passengers of Air Berlin are allowed to carry on board of piece of baggage. It cannot weight more that 6 kg or 8 kg including laptop and be larger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.

Air Berlin: check-in

Welcome to this year’s first post presenting the check-in options offered by various airlines. Today we will have a look at the check-in options offered by Air Berlin.

Air Berlin web check-in

Online check-in makes your life easier. This option is available between 30 and 2 hours before the scheduled departure time for all passengers with a valid e-ticket. All you have to do is enter your booking reference as well as surname, choose your seat and receive your boarding card as an e-mail or a mobile boarding card.

New routes and services – our weekly update

The big German low-cost carrier Air Berlin launched recently a new service from Dusseldorf to Liberia via the Mexican town of Cancun. The new flights to this popular Costarican destination operate one every two weeks.

New routes and services – update

Glad you read our blog. We start off this week’s highlights with with a fresh batch of news about new routes and services from both low-cost airlines and traditional carriers.

Good news for travellers departing from Saarbrucken and Stuttgart. The German low-cost airline airberlin has launched a couple of new routes from these local airports. The new routes are Saarbrücken – Las Palmas, Saarbrücken – Nurenberg, Stuttgart Fuerteventura and Stuttgart – Lanzarote.

Hi travellers. In today’s post of our series presenting you the luggage policy of both low-cost airlines and well traditional carriers, we look into the baggage allowance of Air Berlin, a low-budget carrier which ranks as the sixth largest carrier in Europe measured in passenger figures.

 

Carry-on baggage


When travelling with Air Berlin one is allowed to carry onto the plane one item of cabin baggage the dimensions of which cannot exceed 55cm x 40cm x 20cm.

The weekly update on new routes and services

Hi flyers. Nice to see you back in our weekly preview of aviation news from low-cost airlines as well as traditional carriers.

We start off with two new Nordic services from Air Berlin. Firstly, this low-cost carrier provides now a cheaper alternative on the Hamburg – Reykjavik route and engaging in competition with Lufthansa. Secondly, good new for those who dream of visiting the picturesque isle of Bornholm. Flights Berlin Bornholm are now in operation. Both routes are seasonal and stop to operate in August.

In today’s edition of our series on new routes and services from traditional carriers as well as low-cost airlines, we are going to take a look at flights to Sardinia. Sardinia is a very popular leisure destinations which has seen a gradual increase in passenger number in the course of the recent years.

One of the airlines operating Sardinian airports, Ryanair raised the status Cagliari to its designated base. Nevertheless, Ryanair still has not one-upped the traditional Meridiana which tops the list when it comes to scheduled seat capacity on flights to Sardinian airports. Another carrier present on the Sardinian market is Alitalia.

Plenty of new transatlantic routes in 2011

It seems as though the market is not yet saturated as far as transatlantic routes are concerned given that some 28 new routes to North-American destinations are either already launched or expected to be in operation in 2011.

Among the airlines to set up routes to US and Canada are e.g. Delta, Air France, Air Berlin, SAS or British Airways. Let us take a look at a few examples of the announced services.

The weekly update on new routes and services

airplane on a sunny dayHi guys. Traditionally on Monday we publish our weekly preview of the latest developments in the world of aviation – new routes and services and other news from the low-cost airlines as well as traditional carriers.

We begin with quite a few changes in the route network of the British low-cost carrier bmibaby. This carrier announced it would close down its bases in Manchester and Cardiff and stop flying from these airports. One of the implications of it is that the Manchester – Prague route will be discontinued. The planes serving the routes which are to be discontinued will be redeployed to Belfast, Birmingham and Belfast.
