Aer Lingus launched airfare deal “Love is in the Aer”

Irish airline Aer Lingus launched new airfare deal “Love is in the Aer” which offers flights from only €34.99 one way including taxes and charges. Flights are available to book until February 15, 2010 to travel from February 24 until May 26, 2010.  Treat yourself or someone special this St Valentine’s Day and book a trip to Ireland.

Ryanair adds extra flights to Paris

Low cost airline Ryanair announced yesterday that in addition to our regular daily flights to Paris (Beauvais) from Dublin and Shannon we will operate extra flights for the World Cup playoff match in Paris on Wednesday November 18, 2009. Ryanair has added extra flights to/from Paris on Tuesday November 17, Wednesday November 18 and Thursday November 19 to cater to Irish fans.

Ryanair confirmed that all seats on its extra flights to / from Paris will be at least €20 cheaper than Aer Lingus. Fans can book these seats at ryanair.com from €125 one way (including taxes and charges), which is €44 cheaper than Aer Lingus’ current lowest one way fare of €169.

Aer Lingus offers budget flights from €14.99

Irish Aer Lingus launched a sale offering budget flights with low fares available from only €14.99 one way including taxes and charges. Cheap seats can be booked by midnight Monday June 22, 2009 for travel from September 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010. Handling fee per passenger/ per one way flight: €5.00 per transaction is not included.

Aer Lingus offers flights mainly to UK, Europe and USA. Budget flights are available e.g. from Dublin to Birmingham, from Cork to Lisbon, from Belfast to Paris and many other popular routes.

Aer Lingus: 6 new winter routes from Gatwick

Since launching its first international base outside of Ireland at Gatwick in April this year, Aer Lingus is set to fulfil its promise of more routes with six new destinations being added to its current schedule.

Aer Lingus will introduce Bucharest, Eindhoven, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Warsaw and Vilinus for winter this year. Its current flights to Dublin, Faro, Knock, Malaga, Munich, Vienna and Zurich will continue, but Nice will cease during the winter months. With the addition of these new routes, the airline will operate 118 round trips a week.

Aer Lingus celebrates 60 years of flying to Birmingham

Aer Lingus celebrated 60 years of flying between Dublin and Birmingham. On May 2nd 1949, a Douglas DC-3 aircraft with 26 seats and bearing the name “St Declan” left Dublin airport bound for Elmdon Airport, Birmingham.

Fares at the time were £6-0-0 single, £10-16-0 return and £9-0-0 excursion return. In 1949, the Dublin to Birmingham service operated on week-days (in those days defined as daily except Sunday). It carried in excess of 10,000 passengers in its first year of service.

From June to September 1950 the schedule was increased from week-days to twice daily. Today Aer Lingus operates four flights daily between Dublin, Cork and Birmingham.

Aer Lingus voted Best Short Haul and Best Long Haul airline

Aer Lingus was voted “Best Short Haul airline” and “Best Long Haul airline” by the Irish Consumer Travel Awards at a star-studded gala event at the RDS in Dublin. Aer Lingus saw off competition from a number of carriers including Ryanair, BMI, and Virgin to land the prestigious honours. Hosted by Kathryn Thomas, presenter of RTE’s No Frontiers, the awards recognise the very best of the travel industry as voted for by the Irish consumer.

The awards were created by ebookers.ie and Abroad Magazine in association with the Irish Times. Unlike any other awards related to the travel industry, members of the public were invited to rate all the aspects of the travel industry that affect them.

Click4Sky adds fees for airport check-in

Czech low cost airline Click4Sky announced it has introduced a fee of 250 CZK (about 9 EUR) for airport check-in. Obviously, Click4Skygot the idea from other low cost airlines that have been charging these fees for several months already.

You can avoid the fees by checking-in online via airline’s website. Online check-in is available 24 hours before the flight and closes 35 minutes before the scheduled departure. When you travel with checked baggage, you can still check-in online and drop the baggage at the specified counters.

Aer Lingus has launched a sale and is offering 20% off every seat and every flight including weekends to the UK, Europe and USA. You can book the tickets by midnight Friday February 20.  Tickets are valid for travel from 25 February to 31 March and 20% discount applies to fare before taxes and charges. Handling fee per passenger/ per one way flight: EUR 5.00 per transaction is not included.
