Ryanair – more than 150 new routes in 2012
January 26th, 2012
After having been busy expanding to the Spanish and Italian market, the Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair is ready to enter Eastern-Europe more vigorously.
Ryanair serves a significant number of airports in the eastern part of the continent but as Michael O’Leary reveals, this is only the foretaste of the airline’s East-European growth.
Recently CEO of Ryanair announced 5 new routes which marks the end of the airline’s 18 months long absence in Budapest Airport. These routes are:
| route | how often |
| Budapest – Bologna | twice weekly |
| Budapest – London | four times weekly |
| Budapest – Dublin | twice weekly |
| Budapest – Birmingham | twice weekly |
| Budapest – Bristol | twice weekly |
As to the new Warsaw Airport (Modlin), it is still unclear whether or not Ryanair will open up it’s new base there although there is no doubt as to the carrier’s presence there.

I only wish that Ryanair reopens HHN-BTS route…
Hope they will add some Brno/Prague/Bratislava routes
Hi Liza,
We fully support your wish list but find it somewhat difficult to believe that Ryanair strikes a deal with Prague. The other two airports seem to be more probable candidates.
Thank you so much for reading out blog!

Hi Absik,
Given O’Leary’s promises to focus more on Eastern Europe, the opening of new routes from BTS appears to be likely. The question is if there is sufficient demand for HHN-BTS? Time will show.
