Low cost airlines’ baggage policy: Thomas Cook Airlines
As the cold and greyish month of January is dragging on, many of us feel tempted to book a trip to warmer climes. One of the airlines offering low-cost flights to the top leisure destinations is Thomas Cook Airlines. Let us find out what is the baggage policy of this carrier.
Carry-on baggage
Luckily there is no fee for having on board your personal belongings in carry on baggage. As for the maximum size and weight, the limitation is: 43cm x 28cm x 23cm and 5kg.
In addition to your carry-on baggage, you are allowed to take with you mobility equipment and childrens’ pushchairs.
Checked Baggage
As opposed to carry on baggage, checked-in baggage is unfortunately not included in the ticket price. The carrier suggests that you add hold baggage (up to 20kg) in advance as you book your flight.
In case of a short haul flight (less than 6 hours) it costs £12 per person per flight whereas in case of a long haul flight, the price is £19.
Excess Baggage
Should it happen 20 kg it way too strict a limit and you need some more kilograms for various gadgets and knick-knacks you necessarily have to take on your trip, you may always buy some additional weight allowance. Additional kilos may be purchased in clusters: 5 kg cost £35.00/£40.00 per person per flight (respectively on short and long haul routes) whereas 10 kg cost £70.00/£90.00 per person per flight (again respectively on short and long haul routes)
As for the excess baggage charges applied at the airport, they are as follows:
Excess baggage charges will apply at the airport on the day of departure. These are listed below:
£10.00 per kilo – short haul
£12.00 per kilo – medium haul
