Extreme airports world over

December 9th, 2010

It’s coming up to weekend – one day left! – and it occurred to us that we could put out on the blog one of these rankings everybody’s crazy about. You know which ones- «the 100 best/worst/most disgusting/shocking/brutal airports/tattoos/surgical mistakes» and so on and so forth.

Given our profile, it’s obvious what kind of things arouse our interest – aviation related, to be precise airports. We browsed through the internet and picked just a few of tens of the most peculiar airport photos one can come across. Enjoy!

1)  Princess Juliana International Airport

A classic example of an extreme airport. Pictures of aircraft just some metres above the heads of stunned tourists are emblematic of this airport.

2) Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport – Saba Island, Netherlands Antilles

Strange as though it is, no accident has happened there which sounds odd when you look at his picture.

3) Tenzing-Hillary Airport / Lukla Airport

It’s there all mountain climbers with Mount Everest in their schedule have to go.

4) Barra International Airport

See this water surface over there? It’s the airport. Or it serves as one once in a while during the ebb tide……
