Tips & tricks: on-line check-in

March 17th, 2010

Are you about to head out for a trip? Regardless whether you are flying great distances or just getting to your neighbour city, we are going to help you get through the entire on-line check-in process step-by-step! So at the end of our little session you are going to be able to enjoy all opportunities and comfort of on-line check-in with you favourite airlines, namely speaking of saving your time, picking your own seat or having the opportunity to check-in almost anywhere and anytime. So let’s get started!

When can I check-in?
Anybody who bought and printed out his e-tickets (electronic airline tickets) irrespective of whether he/she travels with hold baggage or carry on baggage only can check-in on-line. One can usually check-in from 30 to 1 hour prior to departure depending on which carrier he/she chose to fly with.

And how does it actually work step by step?
Log in on web sites of the airline you are flying with. Find “on-line check-in link” and enter your e-ticket number (the number of your flight ticket) or the booking code that you received right after your reservation was made. Then enter your flight number. If you want to you can book your seat, too, in this step. And what about your ticket? You can either print it out for yourself and/or for everybody else traveling with you (at home or at the self-service check-in machine at the airport) or you can get your ticket electronically – with the help of e-mail, SMS or MMS (see the article Mobile check-in). As soon as you check-in, the only thing that needs to be done is to drop off your luggage at the drop-off counter at the airport. You can usually do so for about 2 hours prior to departure.

Flights cancellation

If you decide to cancel your flight you can do it on-line again. The process is very similar to check-in. Just enter your e-ticket number or the booking code, and your flight number like you did once before. After you click on the confirmation button, your check-in & booking will be canceled. If out of any reason all your effort is to no avail, do not panic and just contact the airlines’ customer department and they will assist you with your flight cancellation.
