Read the updated version of this article here!

A short time ago we have presented new serial about low cost airlines’ policy. The very first was the baggage policy of Ryanair and AirAsia. Lets continue and find out more about baggage policies. But remember that the baggage fees change quite often and that it is necessary to follow the airlines’ websites to find the latest updates. Today we will present you one of the Asia most favourite low cost airline – easyJet.

Low cost airline easyJet belongs to the most popular low cost airlines in Europe. It operates scheduled services on both domestic and international routes in Europe. What should you know before buying an airline ticket with them? How to pack your suitcase?

Cabin Baggage

Free cabin baggage allowance is 1 piece of cabin baggage. Its weight is not limited however it cannot exceed the maximum dimensions of 56 cm x 45 cm x 25cm.

Checked Baggage

Maximum baggage allowance for each passenger is up to 8 pieces of checked-in hold baggage to a maximum combined weight of 20 kg. Each piece of checked-in hold baggage will incur a fee, which is payable online or at the airport at a higher charge. The fee differs according to the destination and will be displayed at the time of booking baggage.

Excess Baggage

When your baggage excesses the baggage allowance of 20 kg you will have to pay excess baggage fee which is EUR 12/GBP10 for each kilo.

    Hello.
I made a booking on EasyJet to travel NICE-PARIS for end May 2010.
Hold baggage 0. I would now be carrying 1 hold baggage – ALL other flight elements remain UNCHANGED. Can you please advise: How do I go about modifying this online? Will this attract a supplement fee? If Yes How much? Many thanks.

  2. April 28th, 2010 at 06:57 | #2

Hello, checked baggage with easyJet is paid – you have to pay £18/bag (€20/bag) when paid during booking and £36/bag (€44/bag) at the airport. For detailed info please contact directly easyJet’s helpdesk.

    Hi,
Could you tell me if two passengers are sharing one checked in case, is the baggage allowance now 40kilos?
    Thanks.

  4. June 14th, 2010 at 09:33 | #4

Hello, each passenger is allowed up to 20 kg. However, I am afraid that easyJet’s staff won’t allow you to have one shared baggage of 40 kg for two – I would recommend you to take two bags each weighing 20 kg or you can contact directly easyJet’s helpdesk for such a specific demand.

  6. July 8th, 2010 at 11:15 | #6

easyJet allows handbags as cabin luggage – however you should be careful what you can carry.

Can the 20kg consist of two bags or one bag and a parasol with a
    combined weight totaling 20kg

  8. August 3rd, 2010 at 07:15 | #8

Hello Sheila, it should be possible. However, if you think that your parasol’s dimensions are too high you should contact directly easyJet. They should be able to tell you exactly what you can take with you.

booked weekend to lisbon with comany ( not easy jet) flights are with easyjet and i need to add one bag to the hold as company have not done it. phoned easy jet and told to go on their myeasyjet page but i am still hiting a brick wall with booking luggage, and i certainly dont want to be paying double on arrival at airport, anyone got the answer out there..?

  10. August 11th, 2010 at 09:31 | #10

Hello Davie, have you tried to manage your bookings in “Manage bookings” down next to Check in online? You can find it directly at easyjet.com (below).

  11. August 28th, 2010 at 16:39 | #11

The checked bag allowance with Easyjet is 20kg, but if two people are booked under the same pool booking and are only checking one bag then the pooled allowance goes up to 32kg. not 40 as one would expect.

We are two passengers one of us has purchased a one-way ticket and 2 checked-in bags. The other passenger has purchased a return ticket and one checked in bag. Do we have a total of 40 kg (20kg + 20kg) or 60kg i.e. the passenger with the two checked-in bags can carry 2 suitcases of 20 kg each. Thanks

  14. September 20th, 2010 at 08:22 | #14

Hello Alisa, if you have booked three pieces of baggage all together that should mean 20kg+20kg+20kg – however, if you are not sure or if it is more complicated I would suggest you contact the airline directly.

    Hello,

you have probably had this question several times already, but:

My booking says: You have currently opted not to check in any baggage.
Does that mean that all I can take with me is my little hand baggage, no bigger baggage at all?

    Thanks

  16. November 9th, 2010 at 07:27 | #16

Need to add luggage to an existing 2 bookings

  17. November 9th, 2010 at 07:56 | #17

Hello Andrea, you can do it via https://www.easyjet.com/en/myeasyjet/signin

  18. December 3rd, 2010 at 15:19 | #18

I have booked a return flight to Venice with Easyjet. Does the £18 charge for 1 bag cover both sectors or must I pay a total of £36 for the return trip?

  19. December 3rd, 2010 at 15:34 | #19

Hello Penny, easyJet allows 20kg of baggage per passenger. A charge for one checked baggage is £9 if you travel one way and £18 for return flights. If you have paid £18 it covers both sectors. Have a nice weekend! Petra

    Hi,
I have a return ticket with one bag pre-paid….
    Q. If, after departing but prior to my return, I wish to add an extra bag (prepay via internet) can I do so at the usual online rate? Or must all booking changes be made before the first flight?
This could be handy as Christmas presents to bring home might push me to a second bag – but I don’t know that before I depart.

  21. December 21st, 2010 at 08:55 | #21

Hello Sam, easyJet allows to manage bookings and add more bags. However, as I don’t have my personal experience I would suggest you to contact directly easyJet’s helpdesk.
