To my knowledge AirTran is not flying anymore from Florida to Grand Bahama. Unfortunately the Bahamas has a very low reputation as a nice tourist destination due to high murder rate, crime and corruption. We have to know that the Bahamas has already the 81st murder victim in 2009 when a father of a 9-month-old girl was gunned down while standing outside a home with a group of friends. I have to wonder because the Bahamas is a mini state with 320 000 inhabitants only. On the other hand this small island nation makes big business in drug trafficking. And this has a influence in the people´s moral. Bahamians rip off foreigners already when you arrive in Nassau. I met a family of 5 and they paid 135 $ for going to Atlantis. The taxi driver charged per person. Do not fall in that trap. Ask for the police and save your money. A study (National Tourism Quality Assurance Survey) about dissatisfied tourists confirmed that travelers do not want to go to the Bahamas again due to poor service, bad attitudes and too high prices.
