Air Berlin: Getting award flights even faster

December 8th, 2009

The topbonus Winter Special allows members of Air Berlin’s frequent flyer scheme to earn an award flight with the miles they have collected even faster. To mark the 5th anniversary of topbonus, Germany’s second largest airline is giving a 50 per cent discount on all Economy Class award flights for 5 weeks. A German domestic flight is available from just 3,750 award miles (instead of 7,500 miles), while flights within Europe starts at 5,000 award miles (instead of 10,000).

The benefit obtained with the discount is particularly great for long-haul flights: topbonus members will for instance need only 17,500 miles (instead of 35,000 award miles) for an award flight to Thailand. The Winter Special applies to the entire Air Berlin route network. The travel period is from January 4 to February 28, 2010.

Air Berlin’s topbonus program is free to join and new members can register at airberlin.com. On the 5th anniversary of its frequent flyer scheme, the airline will be opening the doors to the great topbonus partymile online. Until January 31, 2010 Air Berlin passengers will have a choice of anniversary offers from topbonus and program partners at airberlin.com/5Years. The online competition allows players to test their knowledge of geography. There are 10 million topbonus award miles in total as well as other prizes to be won.

Is Air Berlin a part of any other flyer miles system?

Air Berlin’s frequent miles system called topbonus is also shared by TUIfly. However, I don’t know about any other program.
