Malév entered its first Q400 aircraft into service

December 3rd, 2009

Hungarian airline Malév entered its first Q400 aircraft into scheduled service at the weekend. The latest member of the fleet made its first flight from Budapest to Bucharest on November 29. Since then HA-LQA has also carried passengers to and from Warsaw, Tirana and Geneva.

The rapid, quiet, cost-efficient, environmentally friendly aircraft with excellent flying characteristics has been introduced onto Malév’s regional routes i.e. routes with a maximum flight time of 1 hour 15 minutes. With a maximum speed of 667 kph, the timing for routes operated with Q400s is just a few minutes more than usual because the higher speed of jet aircraft cannot be taken advantage of over short distances.

At the same time, this type allows for cost-efficient and environmentally friendly operation since it uses 30% less fuel than a similar category jet propulsion aircraft. Passengers are guaranteed a smooth and trouble-free journey thanks to the Active Noise and Vibration Suppression (ANVS) system developed specifically for this model.
