Airport of the week: Airport Girona Barcelona (GRO)
Airport Girona Barcelona (also known as Girona-Costa Brava Airport, IATA code: GRO) is one of less known airports. It is located 12 kilometres south of Girona and 92 kilometres from Barcelona. Girona Barcelona Airport is served by many traditional and low cost airlines (e.g. Ryanair, Jetairfly, Transavia) because it serves as a secondary airport. More and more turists fly to this airport thanks to lower taxes and budget flights.
Airport Girona Barcelona is accessible by buses (there are lines connecting Airport Girona with many places, e.g. Andorra Line, Barcelona Line, Costa Brava Centre, Costa Brava Norte route, Costa Brava South Route, Girona Line). Passengers can also rent a car via many car rentals (e.g. Atesa, AurigaCrown Car Hire, Avis, Europcar, Goldcar Europa, Hertz) or pay for taxi (taxi ranks are available in front of the airport).
Two basic parking possibilities are available: parking area P1 and P4. There are 3400 parking spaces in total. For further information please visit aena.es.

i just want to add that train is also availble from girona city to barcelona city and train fares in spain are not as expensive as in other parts of euorpe

It’s more easy to travel from Girona to Barcelona by bus. The bus schedule is adapted to the flight schedule. It’s about 20 euro for a round trip from Girona to Barcelona.
