Frontier Airlines announces fee changes

September 7th, 2009

Frontier Airlines announced it will change its checked bag fee from $15 to $20 for the first checked bag and from $25 to $30 for the second checked bag. The new fee goes into effect for tickets purchased on or after September 8, 2009 and applies to travel commencing on or after October 1, 2009.

Frontier is also reducing certain fees. Customers who purchase an Economy ticket can now change travel plans for a $100 change fee, down from $150. Economy travelers can also get a confirmed seat on the same day of travel on a different flight for $100. Those who purchase Classic tickets can receive a confirmed seat on the same day of travel on a different flight for $50. The change fee on a Classic ticket remains unchanged at $50.

Frontier customers who purchase either a Classic or Classic Plus ticket will receive two free checked bags. Additionally, Frontier Airways’ EarlyReturns® Summit and Ascent members, as well as active-duty military personnel and AirTran Airways’ A+ Rewards Elite members traveling on Frontier Airlines, will not be charged for a first or second checked bag.
